Our goal at unheardvictims.org is to bring awareness to the untold stories and experiences of children in urban cities all over America that you may not read in the papers or see on the news. The stories we see and hear are of the tragic deaths due to guns, gangs, and violence. We have, as a society, become to numb to the senseless killing and violence that occurs in cities like Chicago every day.
Hidden from view are the unheard victims, the students that hear gunshots outside their homes every day. My students, have had guns held to their heads, have seen dead bodies, have had people shot and killed outside their homes. Despite these traumatic events, they get up in the morning, go to school, get good grades, play sports, belong to clubs, and almost all of them graduate and are accepted to college.
This site, and it’s message is intended to bring light to the bigger problems of guns, gangs and the violence they cause. These are our stories!
